Ensiferum is a Finnish folk-metal band formed in Helsinki in 1995. Its music pairs melodic death-metal guitars and harsh vocals with folk melodies, clean choruses and historical themes. The band is known for albums including Ensiferum, Iron, Victory Songs and From Afar, as well as songs such as “Lai Lai Hei” and “In My Sword I Trust.” In 2015, Ensiferum toured Europe behind One Man Army, accompanied by Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum. Four years later, the band co-headlined a North American tour with Septicflesh, supported by Arsis.
Firewind are a Greek power-metal band founded by guitarist Gus G in 1998. Their melodic, guitar-led sound is documented on albums including Between Heaven and Hell, Allegiance and The Premonition, while “Mercenary Man” and “Head Up High” became prominent songs in their catalogue. Firewind toured Europe with DragonForce after the release of Allegiance, bringing the band to larger metal audiences. In 2012 they marked ten years since their debut album through anniversary concerts in Greece. Those Athens and Thessaloniki shows supplied the recordings for Apotheosis: Live 2012.
