Eric Essix is an American jazz guitarist, composer and bandleader from Birmingham, Alabama. His contemporary jazz draws on Southern soul and gospel, and his recorded work includes The Birmingham Project and Songs from the Deep. At UAB’s Alys Stephens Center, he has served as artist-in-residence and programming director while presenting concerts connected to the music and history of his home city. The venue has also hosted his recurring seasonal production, Eric Essix’s Holiday Soul.
