Eriko Hashimoto in Tokushima

Eriko Hashimoto is a Japanese singer, guitarist and composer born in Tokushima in 1983. She founded the rock band Chatmonchy in 2000 and became its lead vocalist and guitarist, recording albums including Miminari, Seimeiryoku, Kokuhaku and Tanjō. Her solo pop-rock releases include Watashi ha Pilot and Machiyo Machiyo. In 2010, she performed with Chatmonchy at SXSW in Austin as part of a run that also reached New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The band gave its final single-act concert in 2018 at Tokyo’s Nippon Budokan.
