Europe is a Swedish hard-rock band formed in Upplands Väsby in 1979. Led by singer Joey Tempest, the group became widely known through the 1986 album The Final Countdown and its title track, alongside songs including “Rock the Night” and “Carrie.” The Final Countdown Tour took Europe into arenas during the band’s 1980s peak. The group reunited for Stockholm’s millennium celebrations in 1999, then re-formed in 2003 and returned to sustained touring after Start from the Dark. In 2016, Europe performed The Final Countdown in full on an anniversary tour documented by The Final Countdown 30th Anniversary Show: Live at the Roundhouse.
The Damn Truth are a Canadian rock band formed in Montreal in 2012, led by singer and guitarist Lee-la Baum and guitarist Tom Shemer. Their hard rock draws on the sound of the late 1960s and 1970s; albums including Devilish Folk and Now or Nowhere produced songs such as “This Is Who We Are Now,” “Tomorrow” and “Only Love.” In 2023, The Damn Truth played Steelhouse Festival and Planet Rockstock during an extended run of UK concerts. The band later joined Glenn Hughes as special guests for UK shows celebrating Deep Purple’s album Burn.
