About Exciter
Exciter is a Canadian speed-metal band formed in Ottawa in 1978. The group helped establish the fast, abrasive sound that fed into early thrash metal, led by drummer and vocalist Dan Beehler, guitarist John Ricci and bassist Allan Johnson. Its best-known records include Heavy Metal Maniac, Violence & Force and Long Live the Loud.
The original trio returned to the stage at Germany’s Keep It True festival in 2015 after a long period apart. That reunion led to further festival appearances, including Rock Hard Festival and Wacken Open Air, where Exciter presented material from its early albums.
The classic live format places Dan Beehler behind the drum kit as lead vocalist, supported by John Ricci’s guitar and Allan Johnson’s bass. That three-piece lineup was the one seen during the reunion run at Wacken Open Air.
