Exploring Birdsong are a British piano-led progressive rock trio formed in Liverpool. Vocalist and pianist Lynsey Ward, bassist Jonny Knight and drummer Matt Harrison introduced their atmospheric, rhythmically detailed sound on the EPs The Thing with Feathers and Dancing in the Face of Danger, including songs such as “The Downpour” and “Ever the Optimist.” In 2020, the group supported Sleep Token on a UK tour, bringing their piano, bass and drums format to club and theatre stages. They later appeared at ArcTanGent and Radar Festival, extending that live record into the British progressive-rock festival circuit. The concerts retain the core trio arrangement: Ward handles lead vocals and piano, Knight plays bass, and the percussion is supplied by Harrison.
