Fantastic Negrito in Annapolis

Fantastic Negrito is the stage name of Xavier Amin Dphrepaulezz, an American singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Massachusetts and based in Oakland. He plays blues-rooted rock, soul and funk, and his albums The Last Days of Oakland, Please Don’t Be Dead and Have You Lost Your Mind Yet? each won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. Fantastic Negrito won the inaugural NPR Tiny Desk Contest in 2015 and subsequently performed a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music. In 2016 he opened for Chris Cornell on the Higher Truth tour and for Temple of the Dog on the band’s reunion tour.
