Fernando Ubiergo in Puerto Varas

Fernando Ubiergo is a Chilean singer-songwriter, born in Valparaíso in 1953, whose work draws on Latin American canción de autor, folk and pop. He is known for songs including “Cuando agosto era 21,” “El tiempo en las bastillas,” “Un café para Platón” and “Agualuna.” At the 1978 Viña del Mar International Song Festival, he performed “El tiempo en las bastillas” and won the international song competition. Six years later, he represented Chile at the OTI Festival, where “Agualuna” won the event in Mexico City.
