Floating Points in New York

Floating Points is the recording name of British electronic musician, producer and DJ Sam Shepherd. His work moves between club music, ambient electronics and jazz-informed composition; key releases include the albums Elaenia and Crush, while Promises was made with saxophonist Pharoah Sanders and the London Symphony Orchestra. The Elaenia concerts presented Shepherd’s music through a live band, expanding its electronic arrangements with drums and other instrumentation. He later toured Crush as a solo electronic performance, using synthesizers and a synchronized visual system developed for the production. Floating Points has also maintained a separate life as a club DJ, appearing at venues and festivals including London’s Printworks and Barcelona’s Sónar.
