Frank Schöbel is a German pop and schlager singer and actor, born in Leipzig in 1942, whose career was closely associated with East German popular culture. He is known for the songs “Wie ein Stern” and “Gold in deinen Augen,” for appearing with Chris Doerk in the 1968 DEFA musical Heißer Sommer, and for the 1985 Christmas album and television programme Weihnachten in Familie. Frank Schöbel began his professional stage work in the Erich-Weinert-Ensemble before establishing a solo concert career. He later made seasonal concerts a recurring part of his stage work, using songs from the family Christmas project featuring Aurora Lacasa, Dominique and Odette.
