Fred Eaglesmith is a Canadian singer-songwriter, born in southern Ontario in 1957, whose music sits between alternative country and folk. His catalogue includes the albums Drive-In Movie and Lipstick Lies and Gasoline, as well as songs such as “Time to Get a Gun,” “Alcohol and Pills” and “Freight Train.”

Fred Eaglesmith toured for years with backing groups billed as the Flying Squirrels and later the Traveling Steam Show, playing theatres, clubs and roots festivals. His annual Charity Picnic at Springwater Conservation Area near Aylmer, Ontario, paired his performances with a recurring community event. Roots on the River in Bellows Falls, Vermont, also grew out of a weekend built around his performances and brought him back for repeated appearances.
