Funkadelic in Coventry

Funkadelic is an American band formed by George Clinton in Plainfield, New Jersey, in 1968. Its psychedelic rock, soul and heavy funk helped establish the P-Funk sound, captured on albums including Maggot Brain, Cosmic Slop and One Nation Under a Groove. Its best-known recordings also include “Can You Get to That,” “Maggot Brain” and “(Not Just) Knee Deep.” A 1971 performance at Meadow Brook was later released as a live album, preserving the group’s early guitar-driven stage sound. The 1976 P-Funk Earth Tour then brought musicians from Funkadelic and Parliament into a single arena production centered on the Mothership descending onto the stage; that production was documented on Parliament’s Live: P-Funk Earth Tour.
