Artist
Galactic is an American funk band formed in New Orleans in 1994. Its instrumental music draws on jazz, rock and the city’s brass-band traditions; key albums include Coolin’ Off, Crazyhorse Mongoose, From the Corner to the Block and Ya-Ka-May. The 2001 concert album We Love ’Em Tonight: Live at Tipitina’s documented Galactic in one of its principal hometown rooms. Subsequent touring included performances at Bonnaroo and repeated appearances at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Galactic bought the venue in 2018 and has carried on its annual Lundi Gras concert there.
