Gangstagrass in Washington

Gangstagrass is an American group created in New York by producer Rench in 2006. It sets hip-hop MCs against bluegrass instrumentation, including banjo, fiddle and dobro. The group is best known for “Long Hard Times to Come,” the opening theme of the television series Justified, and albums including Rappalachia and American Music. In 2020, Gangstagrass reached the final of season 15 of America’s Got Talent, performing as a full band with rappers and string players. The group brought that format to its Grand Ole Opry debut in 2023, introducing hip-hop MCs on the Opry stage in Nashville.
