Garcia Peoples are an American psychedelic rock band formed by school friends in Rutherford, New Jersey. Their guitar-led music draws on folk rock, progressive rock and open-ended improvisation; their catalogue includes the albums Cosmic Cash, Natural Facts, One Step Behind, Nightcap at Wits’ End and Dodging Dues. Garcia Peoples have used club concerts to expand their recorded material through long instrumental passages and group improvisation. A filmed performance at WFMU’s Monty Hall documented that approach in Jersey City.
