Gary P. Nunn is an American country singer-songwriter, born in Oklahoma and raised in West Texas, whose work is closely tied to Austin’s progressive-country scene. He played with the Lost Gonzo Band and backed Jerry Jeff Walker, while his own best-known songs include “London Homesick Blues,” the longtime theme for Austin City Limits, and “What I Like About Texas.” Gary P. Nunn toured during the 1970s as part of the Lost Gonzo Band’s work with Jerry Jeff Walker. That partnership produced Viva Terlingua!, recorded in Luckenbach in 1973 and featuring his performance of “London Homesick Blues.” He later led the Sons of the Bunkhouse and spent decades playing Texas dance halls, clubs and festivals, including Gruene Hall in New Braunfels.
