Genesis Owusu in Brooklyn

Genesis Owusu is the stage name of Ghanaian-Australian singer and rapper Kofi Owusu-Ansah, who was born in Ghana and raised in Canberra. His music draws on hip-hop, funk, soul, punk and synth-pop. He became known through the album Smiling with No Teeth and songs including “Don't Need You” and “Gold Chains,” followed by the concept album Struggler. In 2022, Genesis Owusu performed at Coachella and Glastonbury as his live work expanded beyond Australia. The following year, he joined Paramore for opening dates on the North American This Is Why Tour.
