George Dalaras in Amsterdam

George Dalaras is a Greek singer and musician, born in Piraeus in 1949, whose repertoire centres on laïko, rebetiko and entehno. He became known through recordings including “Na ’Tane to ’21,” “Mi Mou Thimoneis Matia Mou” and the album “Mikra Asia,” recorded with Haris Alexiou. In 1983, George Dalaras gave a landmark concert at the Athens Olympic Stadium, bringing Greek popular music into a stadium setting. His international concert history later included the Olympia in Paris and the Royal Albert Hall in London, followed by an appearance at Madison Square Garden in New York.
