Gilsons is a Brazilian trio formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2018 by José Gil, Francisco Gil and João Gil, a son and two grandsons of Gilberto Gil. The group plays MPB and pop rooted in Brazilian rhythms and vocal harmony. Its best-known songs include “Várias Queixas,” “Devagarinho” and “Love Love,” while the debut album Pra Gente Acordar brought those strands together. In 2023, Gilsons performed a Tiny Desk concert for NPR, presenting the trio’s interlocking vocals as part of an expanded live ensemble. The set included “Várias Queixas” and “Devagarinho,” two songs that have remained central to the group’s concerts. Rock in Rio and Coala Festival have both hosted Gilsons.
