Girlschool are a British heavy metal band formed in London in 1978. An all-female group associated with the new wave of British heavy metal, they are known for the albums Demolition and Hit and Run, and songs including “Emergency,” “Hit and Run” and their version of “Race with the Devil.” In 1979, Girlschool supported Motörhead on the Overkill tour, beginning a long touring association between the bands. Two years later, they performed at Reading Festival during the period surrounding the release of Hit and Run. Girlschool have also performed at Wacken Open Air in Germany and Bloodstock Open Air in England.
