Gisela João in Coimbra

Gisela João is a Portuguese singer from Barcelos who performs fado, interpreting traditional songs alongside newly written material. Her principal albums include the self-titled Gisela João, Nua and Aurora. She began singing in Porto’s fado houses and continued performing in Lisbon after moving there. The self-titled album was presented in concerts at Casa da Música and Centro Cultural de Belém, and her later theatre and festival programs added repertoire from Nua and Aurora.
