Gitte Hænning in Karlsruhe

Gitte Hænning is a Danish pop and schlager singer, born in Aarhus in 1946, who began performing as a child. She built a long recording career in Scandinavia and the German-speaking market, where songs including “Ich will ’nen Cowboy als Mann,” “So schön kann doch kein Mann sein” and “Freu dich bloß nicht zu früh” became central to her repertoire. She also represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Junger Tag.” From 2004 to 2007, she toured Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Wencke Myhre and Siw Malmkvist in the revue Gitte, Wencke, Siw! Die Show. She subsequently returned to solo concert programmes, including Was ihr wollt and All by Myself, presenting pop, schlager and jazz material under her own name.
