Glykeria in Zurich

Glykeria is a Greek singer, born Glykeria Kotsoula in 1953 in Agio Pnevma near Serres. Her repertoire centres on laïko, rebetiko and traditional song, and includes the album Ta Smyrneika and the live recording Me ti Glykeria stin Omorfi Nyhta. In 1974, she began performing in music clubs in the Plaka district of Athens. She later took this repertoire to international concert halls and developed a particularly strong following in Israel, where her appearances have included performances with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
