Goethes Erben in Chemnitz

Goethes Erben are a German group formed in Bayreuth in 1989, led by vocalist and lyricist Oswald Henke. Their dark electronic music, theatrical delivery and German spoken-word texts helped shape the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst style. Key works include the albums Das Sterben ist ästhetisch bunt and Der Traum an die Erinnerung, as well as “Glasgarten,” recorded with Peter Heppner. The 1998 project Kondition: Macht! placed the group’s music inside a staged dramatic work, establishing music theatre as a central part of its concert identity. Following periods of inactivity, Goethes Erben returned to live performance and appeared at dark-scene events including Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and M’era Luna in Hildesheim.
