Gojira are a French metal band formed in 1996, known for progressive death metal shaped by rhythmic precision and environmental and spiritual themes. Albums including From Mars to Sirius, Magma and Fortitude produced signature songs such as “Flying Whales,” “Stranded” and “Amazonia.” Metallica took Gojira out as a support act on the World Magnetic Tour, bringing the band to arenas in North America and Europe. Gojira later joined Slipknot’s 2019 Knotfest Roadshow, then co-headlined the 2023 Mega-Monsters Tour with Mastodon. In 2024, the band performed “Ah! Ça ira” with opera singer Marina Viotti at the Conciergerie during the Paris Olympics opening ceremony.
