Greg Adams is an American trumpeter, arranger and composer best known for his long tenure with the horn-driven funk and soul band Tower of Power. His trumpet and arrangements are heard on songs including “What Is Hip?,” “So Very Hard to Go” and “You’re Still a Young Man.” His later work ranges from the smooth-jazz solo album Hidden Agenda to the jazz-funk of Greg Adams and East Bay Soul. Tower of Power’s 1976 concert album Live and in Living Color documents Greg Adams during the band’s long touring period. After his years with that group, he returned to the stage as the leader of Greg Adams and East Bay Soul, performing at jazz clubs including Yoshi’s in Oakland and Spaghettini in Seal Beach.
