Grobschnitt in Oberhausen

Grobschnitt is a German progressive-rock band formed in Hagen in 1970. Its music combines symphonic passages, psychedelic rock and comedy, and the group is particularly associated with the extended composition “Solar Music” and the albums Ballermann, Jumbo and Rockpommel’s Land. During the 1970s, Grobschnitt made “Solar Music” a concert centerpiece, expanding it into a long-form performance that changed over time. The band’s shows also incorporated theatrical sketches, costumes and pyrotechnic effects, as documented on the 1978 album Solar Music Live. After farewell performances in 1989, a reunited lineup began another series of concerts across Germany in 2006.
