Mustard Plug is an American ska-punk band formed in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1991. Brisk guitar rhythms, horns and punk tempos define records such as Big Daddy Multitude and Evildoers Beware!, while “Beer (Song),” “Mr. Smiley” and “You” became staples of the group’s catalog. During the 1990s, Mustard Plug appeared on the Vans Warped Tour and joined the 1998 Ska Against Racism tour, whose lineup also included The Toasters, Less Than Jake and Five Iron Frenzy. Decades of club touring followed in the United States and abroad, while the band’s annual hometown holiday show takes place at The Intersection.
The Planet Smashers are a Canadian ska-punk band formed in Montreal in 1994 and led by singer and guitarist Matt Collyer. Their brass-driven catalogue includes the albums Life of the Party, Mighty and Unstoppable, as well as songs such as “Missionary’s Downfall” and “Surfing in Tofino.” The band played the Vans Warped Tour and built a touring history that reached clubs and festival stages across Canada, the United States, Europe and Japan. Its concerts use a full-band ska setup centered on guitar, bass, drums and horns. Festival appearances have included the Montreal Ska Festival and the Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival.
