Hideki Togi is a Japanese musician and composer, born in Tokyo in 1959, who brings the instruments and repertoire of gagaku court music into contemporary instrumental work. He performed in the Imperial Household Agency’s Music Department, playing instruments including the hichiriki and shō, before beginning his solo recording career with the album Togi Hideki. After leaving the Imperial Household Agency, he developed concert programs built around gagaku instruments, keyboards and a contemporary ensemble. He later presented this work at Carnegie Hall in New York.
