About Howard Hewett
Howard Hewett is an American R&B and soul singer, born in Akron, Ohio, in 1955. He became known as the lead vocalist of Shalamar, singing on “The Second Time Around,” “A Night to Remember” and “This Is for the Lover in You.” His solo career began with the album I Commit to Love, which included “I’m for Real” and “Stay.”
Shalamar’s 1982 Friends tour brought Howard Hewett to Wembley Arena as part of the group’s best-known lineup. After leaving the group, he performed as a solo artist in theatres, concert halls and package shows, drawing his sets from I Commit to Love and the Shalamar catalogue.
