About Hradistan
Hradistan is a Czech folk ensemble founded in 1950 in Uherské Hradiště. Led by violinist and composer Jiří Pavlica since 1978, the group performs Moravian folk music alongside Pavlica’s original compositions. Its best-known repertoire includes the album O slunovratu and “Modlitba za vodu,” a setting of a text by poet Jan Skácel.
Hradistan has performed at the International Folklore Festival Strážnice, an important showcase for the traditions of Moravia. Its concert ensemble centres on voices, violin and cimbalom, and has presented this repertoire in theatres, churches and concert halls, including performances in Prague.
