Hugues Aufray in Saint-Brieuc

Hugues Aufray is a French singer-songwriter, born in 1929, whose chansons draw strongly on folk music. He is known for “Santiano,” “Céline” and “Stewball,” as well as French adaptations of Bob Dylan songs including “N’y pense plus, tout est bien” and “La fille du nord.” In 1964, he represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with “Dès que le printemps revient.” He later brought his folk and chanson repertoire to major French theatres, giving headline concerts at the Olympia in Paris.
