Huntertones in Fayetteville

Huntertones are an American instrumental sextet formed by musicians who met at Ohio State University. The group plays horn-driven jazz-funk, soul and fusion, led by trumpet, saxophone and trombone. Its recorded work includes the albums Passport and Time to Play. The musicians developed the band through college house shows before relocating to Brooklyn. They later carried that repertoire overseas on tours organized through the U.S. Department of State’s American Music Abroad program. The live lineup places the three horns alongside guitar, bass and drums, while sousaphone and beatboxing also feature in the arrangements. In New York, Huntertones have played the Blue Note, and a Washington appearance brought the sextet to the Kennedy Center. Their festival history includes Newport Jazz Festival.
