Artist
Ian Prowse is a British singer-songwriter from Ellesmere Port whose rock and pop work is closely associated with Liverpool. He fronted Pele before forming Amsterdam, and his best-known songs include “Does This Train Stop on Merseyside?”, which was also recorded by Christy Moore. His catalogue also includes Pele’s album Fireworks and solo records such as Companeros. Pele toured the UK and Europe in the early 1990s, including dates supporting Del Amitri. Prowse later returned to the band’s repertoire for a Fireworks anniversary tour while continuing to perform material by Amsterdam and from his solo albums. He has also staged a long-running annual Christmas concert at Liverpool’s O2 Academy.
