Idlewild are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in Edinburgh in 1995 by singer Roddy Woomble, guitarist Rod Jones and drummer Colin Newton. Their best-known records include 100 Broken Windows and The Remote Part, which produced the songs “You Held the World in Your Arms” and “American English.” During the 2000s, Idlewild toured extensively and performed at festivals including Glastonbury and T in the Park. After a hiatus that began in 2010, they returned to live performance around the release of Everything Ever Written in 2015. In 2022, they marked an album anniversary by performing The Remote Part in full on a UK tour.
