Red Elvises in Tucson

Red Elvises are a Russian-American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1995 and led by singer and guitarist Igor Yuzov. Their music draws on rockabilly, surf rock, folk, funk and disco, and their best-known songs include “I Wanna See You Bellydance,” “Boogie on the Beach” and “Love Pipe.” The band also wrote music for and appeared in the film Six-String Samurai. In the mid-1990s, Red Elvises played street performances on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica before moving into clubs and touring extensively around the United States. The band later took its live show to Russia, giving its road history a reach far beyond its California beginnings. Red Elvises perform as a full rock band and draw on songs in both English and Russian. A large triangular bass balalaika became a recognizable part of the concerts through longtime member Oleg Bernov.
