Jack Johnson in Chula Vista

Jack Johnson is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and former professional surfer, born in Hawaii in 1975. His relaxed acoustic folk-rock became widely known through the album Brushfire Fairytales and songs including “Better Together,” “Banana Pancakes” and “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing.” He also wrote the soundtrack album Sing-A-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George, which includes “Upside Down.” Jack Johnson launched the Kōkua Festival in Hawaii in 2004 as a benefit for environmental education and returned for subsequent editions. The To the Sea tour followed in 2010, taking his band through amphitheatres and arenas, while later album cycles produced the From Here to Now to You Tour and the All the Light Above It Too World Tour. He returned to theatres and outdoor venues for the Meet the Moonlight Tour.

Hermanos Gutiérrez are a Swiss-Ecuadorian instrumental duo formed in Zurich by brothers Alejandro and Estevan Gutiérrez. Their guitar-led music draws on Latin American styles and western-film scores; the albums El Bueno y El Malo and Sonido Cósmico, and tracks including “Thunderbird,” brought the duo a wider audience. In 2022, Hermanos Gutiérrez opened North American dates for Khruangbin, bringing their two-guitar instrumental set to amphitheatres. The duo performed at Coachella in 2023, and NPR documented the same live format that year in a Tiny Desk Concert.
