James Keelaghan in Calgary

James Keelaghan is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in Calgary in 1959. He is known for narrative songs drawn from historical events and personal experience, including “Hillcrest Mine” and “Cold Missouri Waters,” and for albums such as Small Rebellions and A Recent Future. Keelaghan has spent decades touring folk clubs, theatres and festivals in Canada, the United States, Britain and Australia, performing solo and with accompanying musicians. His festival history includes the Winnipeg Folk Festival and Summerfolk, and he later served as artistic director of the Mariposa Folk Festival.
