Jan Garbarek Group in Istanbul

Jan Garbarek Group is the ensemble led by Norwegian saxophonist Jan Garbarek, whose soprano and tenor saxophone lines sit at the centre of its spacious contemporary jazz. Recording for ECM, the group is known through albums including Photo with Blue Sky, Wayfarer, Twelve Moons and Visible World. The 2007 concert at Alter Schlachthof was released by ECM as the double album Dresden, documenting a quartet of Garbarek, keyboardist Rainer Brüninghaus, bassist Yuri Daniel and drummer Manu Katché. Subsequent concert lineups retained Brüninghaus and Daniel while bringing drums and percussion together in the hands of Trilok Gurtu.
