Jason Marsalis in Savannah

Jason Marsalis is an American jazz drummer and vibraphonist, born in New Orleans in 1977. The son of pianist Ellis Marsalis and brother of Wynton, Branford and Delfeayo Marsalis, he became known through his work with the Marcus Roberts Trio and the Afro-Cuban jazz group Los Hombres Calientes, as well as his own recordings, including Music in Motion and A World of Mallets. In the 1990s, Marsalis toured as the drummer in the Marcus Roberts Trio before performing and recording with Los Hombres Calientes. He later put the vibraphone at the center of his work as a bandleader with the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet, appearing in jazz clubs and at festivals. His performances in his home city have included Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
