Artists
Jazzanova is a German DJ and production collective formed in Berlin in 1995. It plays broken beat, jazz, soul, house and downtempo electronic music; early tracks such as “Fedime’s Flight” established its place in club culture. Its albums include In Between, Of All the Things and The Pool, and the collective co-founded the label Sonar Kollektiv. After years of performing DJ sets, Jazzanova assembled a concert band for the live campaign around Of All the Things. In 2012, the group recorded Funkhaus Studio Sessions at the Funkhaus, recasting material from its first two albums for a full ensemble. The recording documents Jazzanova’s established band format, led vocally by Paul Randolph.
WAYNE SNOW is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer based in Berlin who makes neo-soul informed by funk, house and electronic music. He is known for the albums Freedom TV and Figurine, and for songs including “Red Runner” and “Nothing Wrong.” The Freedom TV period included an appearance at Montreux Jazz Festival, while later concerts carried material from Figurine into clubs and festivals. His performance of “Nothing Wrong” for COLORS also documents his vocal-led live approach.
