Jazzmeia Horn in Fort Myers

Jazzmeia Horn is an American jazz singer, composer and bandleader, born in Dallas in 1991. Her improvisation draws on scat singing, vocalese and bebop phrasing. Victories in the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and the Thelonious Monk Institute International Jazz Competition brought attention to her work, followed by the albums A Social Call, Love and Liberation and Dear Love. Jazzmeia Horn has led small ensembles at the Village Vanguard and Dizzy’s Club in New York, performing original songs and standards shaped by extended vocal improvisation. Her festival appearances have included the Newport Jazz Festival and North Sea Jazz Festival.
