Artist
Jeangu Macrooy is a Surinamese singer-songwriter, born in Paramaribo in 1993, whose music draws on soul and pop. His releases include the albums High on You, Horizon and Summer Moon. He represented the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Birth of a New Age,” having previously been selected with “Grow” for the cancelled 2020 contest. In 2018, he played Judas in the televised live production The Passion in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. Three years later, he performed “Birth of a New Age” at the Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam Ahoy. Jeangu Macrooy has also performed at Lowlands and the North Sea Jazz Festival.
