Jeff Mills in Arc-et-Senans

Jeff Mills is an American techno DJ and producer from Detroit, born in 1963. He first became known on local radio as The Wizard, then co-founded Underground Resistance with Mike Banks before establishing Axis Records. His key releases include “The Bells” and the album Waveform Transmission Vol. 1. The set documented on Live at the Liquid Room was recorded in Tokyo in 1995. A decade later, Blue Potential paired him with the Montpellier Philharmonic Orchestra at the Pont du Gard, establishing orchestral performance as a recurring part of his live work. His DJ performances use turntables and drum machines, and the Roland TR-909 has long been a central instrument in his sets. He has performed at Sónar in Barcelona and at Dekmantel in Amsterdam.
