Black Belt Eagle Scout is the indie-rock project of American singer-songwriter and guitarist Katherine Paul, a Swinomish and Iñupiaq musician raised in Washington State’s Swinomish Indian Tribal Community. Her guitar-led music ranges between intimate dream pop and heavier rock; the project is known for “Soft Stud” and the albums Mother of My Children, At the Party with My Brown Friends and The Land, the Water, the Sky. Black Belt Eagle Scout performed at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago in 2019. That festival appearance was followed in 2023 by a Tiny Desk Concert in Washington, D.C., where Katherine Paul led a full band through songs including “My Blood Runs Through This Land,” “Nobody” and “Salmon Stinta.”
