Artist
Jimmy Fortune is an American country and gospel singer-songwriter, best known for singing tenor with the Statler Brothers. He wrote several of the group’s signature songs, including “Elizabeth,” “My Only Love,” “Too Much on My Heart” and “More Than a Name on a Wall,” and later recorded country standards, hymns and original material as a solo artist. Jimmy Fortune joined the Statler Brothers on the road in 1982, initially filling in for Lew DeWitt before becoming a permanent member. He remained with the group through its farewell tour, which ended with a 2002 concert at the Salem Civic Center in Virginia and was documented on Live and Sold Out. His later concert work has included solo appearances at the Grand Ole Opry and performances with Brothers of the Heart alongside Bradley Walker, Mike Rogers and Ben Isaacs.
