Jo Quail in Shipley

Jo Quail is a British cellist and composer whose instrumental music spans contemporary classical, post-rock and metal. She is known for writing and performing on electric cello, using live looping to create layered arrangements, and for albums including From the Sea, Caldera, Exsolve and The Cartographer. Jo Quail performs much of her catalogue alone, building multiple cello parts in real time through loop pedals and amplification. Roadburn Festival commissioned The Cartographer, and she premiered the work at its 2022 edition in an expanded ensemble setting. Her festival performances have also included ArcTanGent in England and Hellfest in France.
