John Conlee in Fort Liberty

John Conlee is an American country singer born in Versailles, Kentucky, in 1946. His plainspoken songs and baritone voice became familiar through “Rose Colored Glasses,” “Backside of Thirty,” “Lady Lay Down,” “Friday Night Blues” and “Common Man.” In 1981, Conlee became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, beginning a long association with its Nashville stage. In 1985, he carried that repertoire to Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Illinois, for the inaugural Farm Aid concert.
