John Ford Coley in Des Moines

John Ford Coley is an American singer, guitarist and classically trained pianist, born John Edward Colley in Dallas, Texas, in 1948. He is best known as one half of the soft-rock duo England Dan & John Ford Coley, whose albums included Nights Are Forever, Dowdy Ferry Road and Some Things Don’t Come Easy. Their songs include “I’d Really Love to See You Tonight,” “Nights Are Forever Without You” and “Love Is the Answer.” He and Dan Seals first performed together in local bands, then opened concerts by Southwest F.O.B. with an acoustic set. During the duo’s hit years they toured with a backing band, and after their 1980 split, John Ford Coley returned to touring in 1996.
