John McCutcheon in Seattle

John McCutcheon is an American folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in 1952 in Wausau, Wisconsin. A specialist in the hammered dulcimer who also plays guitar, banjo and piano, he is known for narrative songs including “Christmas in the Trenches” and “Water from Another Time.” John McCutcheon began touring professionally in the 1970s after studying traditional music in Appalachia. His solo concerts combine original and traditional songs, instrumental pieces and spoken stories, a format he has also presented at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough.
